READING

Next week we will be reading the story
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day  by Judith Viorst.  This story is about how bad things keep happening to Alexander.  We will be working on the comprehension skill of making text-to-self connections, identifying the important elements in a story and reading independently.

                                     MATH

Our next chapter is on place value.  We will be counting, reading and writing numbers up to 100.  We will identify the place value of each digit (ones, tens, hundreds).  We will be comparing numbers.  Remember to keep practicing the addition and subtraction flash cards at home.

Science
We are going to start our chapter about energy in motion.  We will learn how heat and light are forms of energy and can change matter.   I am asking that your child bring to school 2 packages of 3X5 index cards for science.  We will be using them to write our vocabulary words that we will be learning in each chapter.  If you have not sent these in, please send these in by Monday, September 30th.
