August 26, 2016

Our school year is off to a good start.  The children seem excited to be here and are ready to learn. We have had a great week of school.  If you need to reach me you can contact me at dwalega@ccsd66.org.
Next week we will be doing the MAPS testing Monday through Thursday for 30 minutes.  This gives us a way to chart your child’s progress in reading and math.

Snack
Every day we eat a snack in the morning.  Please make sure you send a snack each day to school.

MATH
We took a 5 minute addition and subtraction timed test.  These will come home next week.  We will be taking timed tests monthly.  A good way to reinforce our math concepts is to complete their homework assignments and practice the addition and subtraction flashcards.

PBIS
This week we implemented an approach to discipline called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).  PBIS is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.
We began by establishing clear expectations for behavior that was taught, modeled and reinforced across all settings and by all staff.
