Mrs. Walega's News

READING
We have been working on learning our Daily 5 routine.  This is our stations that we use during guided reading.   This week our story was McDuff Moves In by Rosemary Wells.  We worked on the comprehension strategy of text-to-self connections.  We are sharing our reading lives with each other and building a reading community in our classroom.

Next week we will be doing the MAPS testing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast.  This gives us a way to chart your
child’s progress in reading and math

Curriculum Night
Just a reminder that Curriculum Night is on September 9th at 6:00.  I look forward to seeing you there!

Reading Logs

Our Reading Logs came home for September.  Our class voted to have a “Stuffed Animal Day” as a reward.  Every child who turns in a completed reading log on October 1st will be able to participate in the “Stuffed Animal Day”.  Keep reading!!

  MATH
This week we completed Module 1 which is sorting and graphing.  Next week we will begin Module 2 which is number facts with a number rack.

Social Studies
We have been working on map skills.  We learned the difference between using a map and a globe and how to use a map key to read a map.

Happy Birthday!
