READING
             Next week we will be taking the Unit 2 Assessments.  We will be reviewing main idea, details and story summary. 
           
           
                   MATH
                                    Next week we will continue to work on measurement.  We will be measuring objects in inches and feet, add and subtract inches and choose the correct tool to measure objects.

  
Student  of the Week
Marissa is the Student of the Week! She likes to build legos, run fast and make creative projects.  Her favorite animal is a harp seal.  Her favorite color is orange.   When Marissa grows up, she wants to be an Animal Breeder.

READING                                             
            Next week we will be reading the story The Big Orange Splot.  We will be doing a close read and focus on the structure of the story.

            Next week we will begin a chapter on Measurement.  We will be using rulers to measure in inches and estimating measurements.

Angee is the Student of the Week! She likes dance, read to her sister and do creative projects.  Her favorite animals are dogs and puppies.   Her favorite colors are pink, gold, silver, red and purple.   When Angee grows up, she wants to be a Dance Teacher.

READING
            Next week we will be reading a story called City Green.  It is a story about citizens working together to improve their neighborhood.  We will focus on the comprehension strategy of retelling.  We will be sharing our slide presentation of our country next week.
             
           
                   MATH
                                   
            Next week we will be finishing our chapter on time and money.  We will be taking a chapter test at the end of the week.


 Student  of the Week
Fredrick is the Student of the Week! He likes to run very fast, play video games and play basketball.  His favorite animal is a jaguar.  His favorite colors are red and black.  When Fredrick grows up, he wants to be a Scientist.

Valentine’s Day Party
Thank you our Valentine’s Day party was great!  Thank you to Mrs. Bowers, Mrs. Corpora, Mrs. John, and Mrs. Martyka who organized our games and ran our party.   Thank you to Mrs. Wawro, Mrs. Stamenkovich, Mrs. Ording, Mrs. Bowers, Ms. Motti and Mrs. Ahmed for supplying the snacks for our party.  Thank you to Mrs. Wawro for wrapping our valentine boxes.  Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated!  The children had a wonderful time!

On Valentine’s Day, February 14,  your child may bring one valentine for every child in the class (21 students).  Please make sure that your child signs the valentines but doesn’t address them.  We will be passing them out to our classmates on February 14th.

READING
                         Next week we will continue working on our research project.  We are researching a country and finding out what kind of libraries they have in the country.  We will be doing a slide presentation to the class about our country.

           
                   MATH
                           Next week we will continue working on telling time.  Please continue to work on counting coins with your child.

Connor is the Student of the Week!  He likes to swim, play baseball and ride roller coasters.  His favorite animal is a rhino. His favorite color is red.   When Connor grows up he wants to be a Baseball Player.

Valentine’s Day Party
On Friday, February 10th, we will have a Valentine's Day party.

          On Valentine’s Day, February 14,  your child may bring one valentine for every child in the class (21 students).  Please make sure that your child signs the valentines but doesn’t address them.  We will be passing them out to our classmates on February 14th.
