READING
We will be working on writing pen pal letters to third grade students at Prairie View School. We will visit our pen pals on May 25th.
We will be working on a theme review this week. We will read two stories about Families. One story is called A Curve in the River which is a realistic fiction. It is about a little boy who sends a message in a bottle. The second story called Slippery Siblings which is a non-fiction story. We will compare and contrast the stories. We will review contractions, word families, and homophones.
In math we are finished our chapter on place value. Our test will be on Monday. Our next chapter will be on adding three digit numbers. Practicing your math facts would be very helpful to your child as we are adding larger numbers.
Science
We will be starting a new unit on nutrition. We will be learning about the food groups, the food pyramid and what are healthy foods to eat. Our larvae have formed chrysalises. We are excited to see the new development! Soon we will have butterflies.
I enjoyed seeing everyone at the Open House! Thank you to everyone who for the gift certificates for the book fair. I was able to purchase books for our classroom to enjoy. I appreciate your thoughtfulness! The children have been working very hard and it shows in their beautiful work. I’m very proud of them and you should be too.
