READING
We have been working on learning our
Daily 5 routine. This is our stations
that we use during guided reading. This week our story was McDuff Moves In
by Rosemary Wells. We worked on the comprehension
strategy of text-to-self connections. We
are sharing our reading lives with each other and building a reading community
in our classroom.
Spelling
Next week I will be
sending home a spelling word sort. This is
a practice word sort, so the children learn how to sort their spelling
words. The week of September 12th,
they will come home with their real spelling words to sort and learn. I will go over this in more detail at
Curriculum Night.
Reading
Logs
Our
Reading Logs came home for September.
Our class voted to have a “Stuffed Animal Day” as a reward. Every child who turns in a completed reading
log on October 1st will be able to participate in the “Stuffed
Animal Day”. Keep reading!!
Next
week we will be working on writing numbers in different ways, problem solving
and counting patterns within 100 and 1,000.
Social Studies
We
have been working on map skills. We
learned the difference between using a map and a globe and how to use a map key
to read a map.
