April 17, 2014

READING
            Next week we will continue working on the story Ants.  In phonics  we will be focusing on the word endings -nd, -nt, -mp, -ng, -nk, base words and endings in nouns -s, -es, -ies.
            Vocabulary words are antennae, colonies, larvae, cocoons, fungus, and tunnels.
            Comprehension strategies are rereading for understanding, cause and effect, and fact and opinion.
                        In grammar we will be working on singular and possessive nouns.

                   
                 MATH
                             In math we are finishing our chapter plane figures and will have our chapter test on Wednesday.  Our next chapter will be on measurement.  We will be learning about length, capacity, perimeter and area.   Please continue to practice flashcards at home.

Science
          Our caterpillars have built a chrysalis and will soon be turning into butterflies.   We can’t wait until they turn into butterflies.  You can view them at Open House.   We are still learning about the Rainforests of the World.

Open House
          Our spring open house will be on April 24th from 6:30-8:00.  All family members are welcome to attend the open house and see all of our beautiful
work on display.
