READING
We have been working on learning our
Daily 5 routine. This is our stations
that we use during guided reading. This week our story was McDuff Moves In
by Rosemary Wells. We worked on the comprehension
strategy of text-to-self connections. We
are sharing our reading lives with each other and building a reading community
in our classroom.
Next week we will be doing the MAPS testing on Monday and
Tuesday. Make sure your child gets
plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast.
This gives us a way to chart your child’s progress in reading and math.
Curriculum
Night
Just
a reminder that Curriculum Night is on September 9th at 6:00. I look forward to seeing you there!
This
week we started Math with Understanding Addition and Subtraction. This unit teaches the children when to use
addition and subtraction and also helps to reinforce number sense.
Social Studies
We
have been working on map skills. We
learned the difference between using a map and a globe and how to use a map key
to read a map.
