READING
            Next week we will be taking our research on our country and making it in a 3 slide presentation.  We will share our presentations with the class.
Reading Logs are due Monday, March 2nd.

            We will be finishing our chapter on geometry.  Our next chapter will be on counting money

**Please make sure you send in the following coins in a small container or baggie (with your child's name on it) please include the following coins:  20 pennies, 10 nickels, 10 dimes and 7 quarters.**

Fullersburg Field Trip
            On Friday, March 6th we will be going on the field trip to Fullersburg Woods.  This is an outdoor field trip.  Please dress for the weather.  (Boots, coat, scarf, gloves)  Bring a sack lunch with a drink.  There will not be hot lunch service when we get back from our trip.

Box Tops Collections
            We are still collecting box tops for education.  Check if any products at home have the box tops to add to our collection.  Thanks!

READING                                             
            Next week we will begin a research project on a foreign country.  We will be finding information on our country and filling out a graphic organizer.  We will be learning about text features and what important information we need to include about our country.

Next week we will be working on geometric shapes.  We are learning the vocabulary faces, vertices and edges.  We will be working on solid figures, plane figures, polygons, angles, whole and equal parts.

If you haven’t turned in the permission slip or money for our field trip, please remember to send it in as soon as possible.

        READING

            Next week we will be reading the stories, Biblioburro and My Librarian is a Camel.  These stories are about lending libraries.  We will focus on questioning as we read the stories.  In grammar, we will learn about synonyms and antonyms.

Next week we will be finishing our unit on 3-digit addition and subtraction.  Our next unit will be on geometric shapes.  Please continue to practice math facts with your child. 


 
Student  of the Week
Valeria is the Student of the Week!  She likes to read books, color pictures and play with her friends.  Her favorite animal is a monkey.  Her favorite color is blue.   When Valeria grows up, she wants to be a Pediatric Nurse.



Valentine Shoe Boxes
Thank you to Mrs. Kerrigan and Mrs. Rossi for wrapping our valentine boxes.  We had a fun decorating them for our Valentine’s Day Party!

Valentine’s Day Party
Thank you our Valentine’s Day party was great!  Thank you to Ms. Rivera, Mrs. Rossi, Ms. Michell, and Mrs. Young, who organized our games and ran our party.   Thank you to Mrs. Kerrigan, Mrs. Cinco, Mrs. Kotel, Mrs. Sarno, Mrs. Piechnick and Mrs. Young for supplying the snacks for our party.  Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated!  The children had a wonderful time!

READING
            Next week we will be reading a story called That Book Woman.   It is about a family living in the Appalachian Mountains in the 1930's.  They get books to read during the regular visits of the "Book Woman"—a librarian who rides a pack horse through the mountain.
                         

           
                   MATH
                           Next week we will continue to work on 3-digit subtraction with and without regrouping.  Please practice math facts with your child this helps them to solve problems quickly.  We will also be doing some 100’s Day activities. 
           
  Student  of the Week
Jack is the Student of the Week!  He likes to wrestle, play football and is a White Sox fan.  His favorite animal is a dog. His favorite colors are blue and red.   When Jack grows up he wants to be a Football Player.






Valentine’s Day Party
On Thursday, February 12th, we will have a Valentine's Day party.  Your child may bring one valentine for every child in the class (19 students).  Please make sure that your child signs the valentines but doesn’t address them.  We will be passing them out to our classmates before the party.
