READING
Next
week we will be reading the story Eat My Dust! Henry Ford’s First Race by
Monica Kulling. This story recounts how
Henry Ford won his first car race and used his prize money to realize his dream
of building a car that everyone could afford.
We will be working on the comprehension skill of making text-to-self
connections and reading independently.
Next
week we will begin spelling. We will
using the program Words Their Way.
Each week the children will be working with words and putting the words
into sorts. They will have a spelling
test in two weeks. The test will be on
12 of the words they have been working on for the two weeks. A letter will be coming home on Monday
explaining how to do your spelling homework with your child.
MATH
In
math we are working on addition and subtraction problem solving. We are writing related addition and
subtraction sentences, separating parts from the whole and comparing two groups
to solve a problem.
Please remember to review math facts with your
child.
