READING
We will be reading the story called Moses Goes to a Concert.  This is a realistic story about a deaf boy names Moses, who goes to a concert.  The deaf percussionist helps Moses and his classmates realize they can be anything they want.
The vocabulary words are deaf, instruments, signs, hearing, percussion, vibration.
In phonics we will be focusing on words with the long i vowel sound (igh, ie).
                        Comprehension strategy is noting details.
In grammar, we will be working on adjectives.

                   MATH
We will be finishing our unit on measurement and take our chapter test on Wednesday.  Our next chapter will be on fractions.  Remember to keep practicing flashcards with your child.

MAPS Testing
Next week we will be taking the MAPS test on Monday and Wednesday.  Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast.

Science
We have had eight butterflies emerge from their chrysalises.  We have watched them grow and develop into the adult stage.  It was time to say good-bye.
We let our butterflies go out into nature.  We enjoyed learning about the development of butterflies.  We were sad to see them go.
