Week of April 7, 2008

We read our weekly poem, Yellow Yo-Yo. Our new popcorn word was “yellow”. We completed our Yy books and practiced writing the letter “Yy”. We cut apart words to build sentences and read the sentences together. We are focusing on sentences that make sense when we read them and starting our sentences with a capital letter and ending with a period.
In math we worked with the penny, nickel and dime. We used coins to match amounts and practiced counting the coins to see how much money we have in the group of coins.
A Peek at Next Week…
Letter: Zz
Theme: zoo

Tadpoles/Frogs
We will be studying the life cycle of a frog as part of our science curriculum. Our tadpoles arrived on Monday in the egg stage. They hatched and are growing. They are tiny and hard to see at this stage. We will be observing them using a magnifying glass. Ask your child about his/her observations.

Zoo Trip
The morning and afternoon classes will be going on a field trip to the zoo on May 15th. I will be looking for chaperones for the zoo trip. If you are interested in being a chaperone, send me a note or e-mail me a note.

Mark your calendars! The Kindergarten Graduation will be on June 4th taking place during the school day. More information will be coming soon .

We will be celebrating summer birthdays before the end of our school year. Write me a note and we can pick a date to celebrate your child’s summer birthday.
