Next
week we will be reading a story Next week we will be reading the book called
The Name Jar. This story is about a
young girl named Unhei, who moves from Korea and goes to school in America for
the first time. Other children can’t
pronounce her name and tease her, so the thinks about choosing an American
name. We will be discussing and writing
about how to treat our friends. Another
story we will read is about two unlikely animals that become friends
Spelling
Next week we will begin spelling. We will be using the program Words Their
Way. Each week the children will be
working with words and putting the words into sorts. They will have a spelling test in two
weeks. The test will be on 12 of the
words they have been working on at school and home.
MATH
Our next chapter is on Number
Sense and Place Value. We will be
learning about odd and even numbers, place value and expanded form.
Please have your child continue to practice math facts.
Social Studies
We
are continuing to work on map skills. We
are learning about the directions and how to make a map using a map key and
plotting those items on a map.
Student of the Week
Colin is the Student of the Week!
He likes to play baseball, ride roller coasters and go to Dave and
Busters. His favorite animal is a fossa and his
favorite color is blue. When Colin
grows up he wants to be a Paleontologist.
