READING

Next week we will be reading a variety of fairy tales to compare their points of view. We will be discussing character, setting, problem and solution.  We will see how point of view affects the outcome of a story.
Next week we will be taking the MAPS test on Monday and Thursday.  Make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast.

                               MATH

In math we are continuing to work on 2-digit subtraction.  We will be using addition problems to help us solve subtraction problems, estimating differences, problems solving and using mental math to find the differences.  Please remember to practice flash cards daily.

Science
Scientists from Turtle Wax came to our class to teach us about Periodic Table of the Elements of Science.  We used those ingredients to design and make our own car wash soap.  This was part of the Junior Achievement Program which taught them about the careers in science and chemistry.  The team of scientists worked together to make a product that in the future could be a product on the market.  We had a great time learning about how we use science in our everyday lives.

Reading Logs
We did not have many children turn in their reading logs for the month of December.  Please remember to have your child read for 20 minutes daily and record it on their logs.  This is part of their homework assignments.  Our January logs will be due on February 3rd.
